Richard Bivens (Ridgeview High) headed to Lassen College

Richard Bivens commits to Lassen College

Richard Bivens has officially enrolled in classes and committed to head coach Devin Aye’s Lassen College Cougars in Susanville, California.  Bivens, a 6’9” 190 forward exploded onto the scene this year at Ridgeview High School in Bakersfield with averages of 19.4 points to along with 14.4 rebounds.  For his efforts he was awarded First Team in the South Yosemite League, and an All-State nominee as well as participating in the All Valley All-Star game.

According to coach Aye, “Richard is a great young man, and has loads of potential.  With some polish and added strength the sky is the limit for Richard.  I am very excited to have him join our Lassen family.  I look to play him at the forward position as he is very mobile and skilled. This community will fall in love with Richard in his Lassen College orange and black.” Aye did not yet unveil it, but word is Richard Bivens is coming to Lassen College with a few central California high school stars.  Literally, things are looking up at Lassen in 2014-15.

Benson Arogbo (Lassen College) accepts scholarship to UMFK

Arogbo is newest Lassen College player to accept University Scholarship

Benson Arogbo, an athletic 6’3” 190 forward for the Lassen College men’s basketball team has accepted a scholarship to University of Maine at Fort Kent for 2014-15.  Benson will have three years remaining of collegiate eligibility at UMFK and looks to be a big part of their basketball program in the future.  Arogbo finished his time here at Lassen College with an impressive 3.0 GPA and will be closer to home being that his home is the United Kingdom.  Arogbo had averages of 1 point and 1 rebound while shooting 35% from the field for the Lassen Cougars as a freshman.  From Lassen College coach Devin Aye, “Benson has improved drastically during his time here at Lassen College.  His work ethic and character were a big part of our success this year.  Benson was our best defender and he accepted his role on the team even though he was a very capable scorer as well.  He will have a great career at UMFK, and I fully expect to see great things from him in the future.  They are getting a great basketball player, student and young man on campus in Benson Arogbo.”  Arogbo is the sixth men’s basketball student-athlete to accept a scholarship in the last two years.   Coach Devin Aye says he expects for at least two more to sign in the coming weeks.

Eric Duncan (Weston Ranch) Makes It Official with Lassen College

ERIC DUNCAN MAKES IT OFFICIAL WITH LASSEN COLLEGE
In case you were wondering where former Weston Ranch star point guard Eric Duncan was, you can now find him wearing orange and black at Lassen College starting in Fall 2014.  After a pit stop this year at Future College Prep in Los Angeles, Eric has decided on and enrolled in classes at Lassen College for coach Devin Aye’s Cougars.
Duncan is a 6’2” 185 physically chiseled point guard known for his toughness, scoring and basketball IQ.  A four year varsity player, Duncan was honored First Team All Tri-City after his sophomore and junior seasons at McNair High School. Duncan’s senior year at Weston Ranch High School with coach Chris Teevan the team finished 22-11 and shared the Valley Oak League title and made a Nor Cal tournament appearance.  His 16.2 points per game helped him receive First Team Manteca Bulletin All-Area, and an All-State CIF Sac-Juaquin Section nominee.

From Coach Aye, “Eric is exactly what I am looking for in terms of toughness, work ethic, leadership and feel for the game.  He is a winner and comes from great coaching, and a great family.  Lassen just got that much better with the addition of Eric Duncan.  He is a qualifier, and it is our goal to get him a scholarship after his freshman season at Lassen College.”

According to a September 2012 source at NorCal Preps, Eric Duncan was receiving interest from San Jose State, Boise State, Southern Utah, Hawaii and Fairfield.  Looks like Lassen College will be a real power in 2014-15 with an already super talented group of returners.  Something tells me those NCAA scouts are taking notice and penciling in Lassen College on their recruiting trips this Fall.
